On purpose – a weekend reader

My friends push me.

Hope wrote about being intentional. She’s a college student. She quit a job this week because it didn’t fit. She’s starting a Bible study in two weeks because it does.  And she pushes me to be a dad.

Chris wrote about what you could do with an extra thirty minutes. He’s a dad and a traveler and a mentor to me. And he pushes me on how I use the time I have.

Rich wrote about living with purpose. He sits in a wheelchair. Except when he is riding a bicycle for hundreds of miles. And he pushes me to keep writing.

Cheryl wrote about actually intentionally taking time to wait and drink tea. She’s a mom and is leading a study with people across the world. And she pushes me to translate well.

Johanna and Paul talked together about taking time to notice shiny bits of life. They work for an organization that helps translate the Bible into heart languages. And they write. And live in different states. And they push me to think simply about what is around me. And to notice.

Sue wrote about using the inches of time we have. She’s making a TV show about remaking houses. And she’s teaching and fostering house concerts. And she pushes me to not text and drive. And to keep creating video.

Becky talked about how to take steps to add value to free. She’s a speaker and a rancher and a liquor store co-owner. And pushes me to be intentional.

AJ talked about a brief moment of audacity, written while he and Melissa are in Africa helping villages have water.  He pushes me to keep working on building the hall.

Jesus talked about a shepherd that kept looking. And kept talking.

He leads me.

This post made me think of all the people who “challenge” us to dig deeper and push. I like the last two sentences. Yes He keep talking and He leads. So thankful for that!!! Even when we stop talking He still talks. Have a wonderful weekend brother!

Tom Rath calls them Vital Friends, and Gallup actually studied the science of friendships. It’s one of my favorite books, still, because it validates what you say here. We’re better (or worse) because of the friends who surround us. I’m pretty sure there are some Proverbs about that as well.

What you couldn’t speak to, of course, in this post, is how you push us to be better. By moving from reading about cooking to actually being a chef. That’s the part that still challenges me. Hope Got a Cookbook. And I’m cooking from those recipes. Slowly. One loaf pan and one tea pot at a time.

    You bless me, Friend.
