Yesterday, I asked you the best thing that’s happened in the last day or two. I actually find that question hard. It feels like a competition with my brain to figure out THE best. So you can change it. What are a couple things that were bright spots, that gave you a bit of courage, that helped you get to the next breath.
For me? The picture of Ben that Nancy sent me in the last hours of a long shift. The conversation with a new colleague. The accidental call to a friend that meant he called me back.

I’ve written about Tish Harrison Warren and her book, Prayer in the Night. I’ve written about Dr. Lee Warren. Recently, they talked on Lee’s podcast. It is a thoughtful, powerful conversation on prayer, on hoping, on grief, and on being helpful in loss. Holding Onto Hope, with Tish Harrison Warren (wleewarrenmd.com). I even got to ask a question.

When I started this blog nearly fifteen years ago, I spent the first year writing through the gospel of Matthew. A few years later, I gathered the posts on Matthew 5-7, what we know as the sermon on the mount, into an e-book. Recently, Nancy read through it and said, “You should do this in paperback.” So I did.
It’s called Learning a new routine. Reading the Sermon on the Mount a little bit at a time .
My friend Kent says it’s a good devotional book. And you already read four of the chapters last week. For some of you, thanks for reading it back when this project was starting. For the rest of you, now might be a good time to catch up. Or to have a devotional to start out the new year.
