From Rich Dixon:

A dream is a story waiting to be written.
It was the opening line of the book I wrote about our journey. We thought it was a one-time thing; God had a bigger idea.
Apparently 1500 miles was just a chapter in this story, so the obvious question becomes, “What’s next?”
But perhaps there’s a more foundational issue.
+ + +
I believe this dream was God-inspired. The word “inspired” implies breathing, taking in something life-sustaining.
I believe God places in each heart a desire to serve in a unique capacity, to imagine something beyond ourselves and our own comfort. We’re wired to answer that life-giving call.
Inspiration invites, opening a door, providing a glimpse into a remarkable future. It calls us to step into an adventure, an unknown world of imagination, challenge, and opportunity.
Inspiration illuminates, shining its light on a path of possibility and faith. Inspiration provides a compass but rarely a map. It points the way and promises to reveal the next step when we need to know it.
Inspiration encourages – it supplies courage. It offers the character-developing opportunity to face fear and move forward with confident expectation.
Inspiration leads. It goes first and invites you to come along on an adventure.
Conversely, motivation pushes, usually from behind, often with external rewards like money, attention, approval, or fear. I don’t think dreams rely much on motivation.
Dreams may ultimately generate those sorts of rewards, but they’re not the driving force. We received a fair amount of attention and approval, and raised a sizable chunk of money, but those were pleasant side effects.
External motivations cloud the joy of following a dream. They color judgment, complicate decision-making, and drive us in directions other than the dream’s intended path. Maybe it works out sometimes, but it’s a tough way to pursue a dream.
A dream is the God-inspired desire to share your unique gifts and passions
to serve others and change the world.
Our dream’s invitation continues.
Will we follow?
