Rich Dixon is wiser than he admits.

I told you a while back about Una – Dr. Uname Mulale.
The FREEDOM TOUR 2018 team revisited her inspirational story as we talked about wisdom and right thinking.
+ + +
Una had never been on a bike (let that sink in) before she felt God’s call to join our team on a 500-mile tour from Cincinnati to D.C. in July. So, in March she bought a bike and hired a coach to teach her how to ride a bike – in New York City. On Day 1 of the tour, Una cranked a century!
We asked how she did it. “On every hill, when I thought I was suffering, I talked to Jesus about the trafficked women and the horrible conditions in which they were forced to live. I asked Him to focus my thoughts on them instead of me.”
She pointed us to this passage from James:
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
Una asked for wisdom – right thinking – and God answered in a powerful way. Rather than dwelling on her own struggles, or on the significant hurts and abuses from her past, Una was able, with God’s help, to choose wise, helpful, positive thoughts.
Looking back at our conversation, a couple of things stand out.
She didn’t ask for success. The wisdom she prayed for didn’t guarantee she would be able to complete each climb or each ride.
She didn’t ask for relief from the struggle. Wisdom didn’t make the journey easier. Instead, it helped her lean into God’s promise to give meaning, to never waste her efforts.
We wish desperately for a cause-effect relationship between living right and positive results.
Una helped us remember that biblical wisdom is about attitude and right thinking in all circumstances.
