Choosing Lent in 2021

Lent For Non-Lent People is a daily guide to prayer, fasting, rest, and following Jesus for people who want training wheels for Lent. In ordinary language, this book explores prayer, fasting, and Sabbath. There are eight chapters. You can read them as chapters. But if you look closer, you will find seven sections in each chapter, a reading for every day of Lent and a bonus chapter for the week after Easter.

Order Lent For Non-Lent People for yourself, a small group, a family, or a congregation.

A chaplain’s prayers may help your praying

Every Sunday, we pray together here. Every Sunday, I pray those same words in a hospital chapel. A year of those prayers are gathered in “God. We Need You”: A Year of Prayer in a Hospital Chapel.

How do I lead a funeral?

When you least expect it, you may find yourself leading a funeral or memorial service or celebration of life. Giving a Life Meaning is what I would send you if you asked for help. Reflecting my experience in communication and chaplaincy, I help you build competence and confidence. We walk through the pieces of a service, answering questions and offering examples and samples. It’s not for everyone, thankfully, but if you are in this situation, this book will help.
