Today is the winter solstice. In the Northern Hemisphere, there is more darkness on this day than on any other day of the year.

Sometimes there are longest night gatherings, or Blue Christmas gatherings, to acknowledge that Christmas is a melancholy time for many people.

That may be you. It is most certainly someone you know.

Write the names of 3-4 people who simply need a greeting from someone who knows their name and knows they are alive and knows that they may be sad. And then greet them today in some way. Call, email, card, text. Simply say their name and tell them that you thought of them today. (Which is, of course, true. You just did think of them.)
