God.
We would love to have the world be overcome.
Not in some power-grabbing way.
But this weekend, in our community, in our hospital, in our world, there is so much sadness and anger and grief.
We would love to see the rivers clap their hands and the mountains sing together for joy, to give you a standing ovation and a rock concert.
Some days, it seems that would be less of a miracle than people in our communities
clapping together and singing the same songs, with you at the center.
We confess our anger and hatred
We acknowledge our doubts and grief
We want to be able to love each other as you have commanded, to overcome the hate with your love.
Today, right now, would you help us laugh one honest laugh with another.
Today, right now, would you help us cry one honest tear with someone who is aching. Today, right now, would you help us hear one need we can meet and honestly help.
Today, right now, would you help us accept your help instead of constantly telling you what to do.
Today, right now, would you help us rejoice.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
