Your quirky capacity may be what someone needs this weekend.

This week we went to buy school supplies to go in backpacks to be distributed through the food bank Nancy volunteers with. There was a list: 100 of these things, 14 of that thing, a dozen of that thing.

When I looked at the list, the location of all the things made sense. I found the items quickly. And I realized I shouldn’t have been surprised. I understand office supplies. After all, I’m the guy who bought the package of a dozen Sharpies and the package of eight dry erase markers because I use them (and because there’s something cool about buying back to school supplies).

I don’t know what your odd superpower is. I don’t know the quirky capacity you have to figure something out.

It may be where school supplies are, or why someone’s heart might be breaking, or the perfect recipe for soup, or the way to most efficiently mow lawns, or how to make cupcakes, or how to move garbage bins to the street.

I’m guessing that maybe this weekend, there may be a way that you can use that capacity to help someone else.

Politely and gently, but with the confidence that your quirky capacity which was developed across time and with experience is helpful for the people who lack that capacity or the time to do the task.

And maybe, just maybe, you will discover that like Dorcas or people who help strangers or people who offer food, you’ve done it for Jesus.
