A deeper part of our souls

hands playing piano

God created music.

Music touches our souls in a way that nothing else can.

At lunch the other day, I stumbled upon a scene of snow falling with Bach’s Prelude number 1 in C Major playing, and it touched me deeply.

Somehow in contrast to the sunny heat outside my office window, that soothing scene and Bach’s beautiful music almost brought tears to my eyes.

Remembering back to many children’s recitals when that piece was played did not destroy the beauty of hearing it masterfully performed. (Children learning to play the piano is a different form of beauty.)

We so often approach our relationship with God on an intellectual and behavioral level. We’re so concerned with what we do and say. I’m not minimizing the importance of those areas. But sometimes it’s healing to just let beautiful music flow through you and let God restore your soul.
