Sometimes it takes a while

We all want things to happen fast. But God doesn’t necessarily work that way.


I’m in the midst of a job hunt – or as people gently say, “looking for a new opportunity.” Even though unemployment rates are among the lowest in a very long time, it is proving difficult to find a job situation that fits both me and the companies that are hiring.

So I work hard at applying for jobs – and wait.


Moses began his work of leading the nation of Israel at age 80.

Jesus began his public work at age 30 – just three years before he was killed.

God used the wait before they started their work to prepare them for what was ahead.


my son throwing a ski out of a snow ravineBut in the meantime, a flexible schedule has its upsides… our son Ben (shown) is home for the first time in 15 months, and our daughter Rachel is here after her first semester away at college. We’ve spent a lot of time together as a family, including playing in the snow!
