God.
Paul asked you to help people understand how big your love is.
As they came together and learned together and prayed together,
he wanted them to deepen in your love.
He wanted them to know your love.
We want to know your love.
We think it looks like enough to eat, even if it takes a miracle.
We think it looks like being able to walk, even if it takes a miracle.
We think it looks like being on the road to life,
even if we know we’re going to die sometime.
We are sure we know what being loved means.
But when Paul was asking you to help his friends know your love,
I don’t think it was about food or walking or not dying.
I think Paul was talking about being so aware of your deep love for us
that we don’t demand answers,
that we aren’t afraid to ask questions,
that we aren’t so mean to those you love,
that we know your peace even when we are overwhelmed.
And so, God, would you help us today to grow in our understanding of what you mean when you say that you love us all the way from your death to our life?
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
